Are you growing up? (1 Peter 1:22-2:3)

The Christian life is a journey. And it's a journey where we expect to see progress. Not so we can boast but so we can bring glory to God. Crucial areas for progress are in love and in our our knowledge of God. We grow in love by trying to deepen and strengthen the family love we have in the church. We grow in our knowledge of God by a perpetual voracious appetite for the word of God.

Are you growing up as a Christian?

1 Peter 1:13-21 Be Holy

Peter moves on in this letter to give 5 imperatives - things Christians need to do in response to all God has done for them and the glory to be revealed.

Hebrews 2:1-4 Don't Drift Away

Hebrews 1:5-14 God rules the universe by His Son

Jesus is God’s final word, the creator. He has finished his work and sat down at God’s right hand in the place of honour

Hebrews chapter 1:5-14 contain a stream of quotations from the Old Testament showing that Jesus can be completely trusted. He’s greater than angels, in fact angels are under his authority working for the good of believers like us.

1 Peter 1:1,2 Chosen Strangers

As Christians we suffer because we are strangers in this world. But at the same time we are joyful because no matter how hard life becomes God Chose me. God really does have a greater purpose for us and we do not need to be ashamed.
